Name: Glutinous Rice Dumplings 糯米糍
Ingredient:
-glutinous rice flour
-red bean paste
-desiccated coconut
Tangyuan are a traditional Chinese sweet generally served at festivals or Chinese New Yr, or whatever is observed with fam. Glutinous Rice Dumplings are little glutinous rice spheres that could be unfilled or stuffed with sweet or savoury fillings, and served in syrup or broth. The little dumplings nestled together in the bowl symbolize togetherness!
Step 1: Ingredient
Filling:
3 tbsp peanut butter (smooth or crunchy; I favor crunchy)
3 tablespoons sugar
11/2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
11/2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut, toasted
Dough:
2 cups glutinous rice flour
1 tablespoon oil
about 1 cup water
Syrup:
3 cups water
1 stick brown sugar (or 1/2 cup packed brown sugar)
sliced ginger to taste
star anise (optional)
Step 2: Filling
First, toast the sesame seeds and coconut. You surely can try it in a dry frying pan on medium heat, and stir continuously until they certainly are an uniform golden brown. I prefer to toast the ingredients individually as coconut can go from perfectly toasted to burned very fast.
Normally toast much more of each and then have toasted sesame seeds and toasted coconut available. Toasted sesame is excellent on ramen or any form of noodle dish and stir fries. Toasted coconut is excellent on your oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, in cakes and cookies, and both go in granola.
Stir each of the filling ingredients together and set Glutinous Rice Dumplings in the fridge until needed.
