The Avenue of Stars

Feel the magic of Hong Kong films at the Avenue of Stars to the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade with commemorative plaques, featuring handprints of favorite film stars, landmarks of the Hong Kong Film industry and Hong Kong Film Awards sculpture in addition to breathtaking sights of Victoria Harbour.

To pay tribute to outstanding professionals of Hong Kong’s film industry, to boost tourism sector, and to consolidate Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s World City, the Avenue of Stars which is located in the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade was presented with a glittering official opening on 27 April 2004. It was opened to the public and visitors from all around the whole world from 28 April 2004 onwards.

The officiating guests were The Hon Henry Tang, GBS, JP, Financial Secretary, The Hon Stephen Ip address, GBS, JP, Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, Dr The Hon Patrick Ho, JP, Secretary for Home Affairs, The Hon Mrs Selina Chow, GBS, OBE, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Dr Cheng Yu-tung, Chairman of New World Team, Mr Manfred Wong, Chairman of Hong Kong Movie Awards Association Limited. The symbolic switch-on ceremony was also conducted by them.

The Hong Kong Movie Awards Association Restricted will nominate film professionals as additions to the present list on a normal basis in future.

The Avenue of Stars is a HK$40 million job funded by the New World Group.
