The Southern District is situated in the southern portion of Hong-kong Island with Big Wave Bay to the east, Pok Fu Lam to the west. It faces the Pacific Ocean and, with the area around 4000 hectares, covers nearly half the Island’s area where Shek O, Tai Tam, Stanley, Chung Hom Kok, Repulse Bay, Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau are included. The district has a population of 290,000.
Geography
The eastern half of the district is semirural, with some of Hong Kong’s most popular beaches. The western half of the district is partly residential and partly industrial.
